Versapak believes in ethical manufacturing and reusable products.

Policy Brief and Purpose

Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy refers to our responsibility toward our environment. Our aim is to guarantee that we work ethically, considering human rights as well as the social, economic and environmental impacts of what we do as a business. Our culture and values are rooted in service, integrity and taking personal responsibility for our actions, outcomes and reputation.

Scope

This policy applies to our company and its subsidiaries. It may also refer to suppliers and partners. We will continuously improve our Corporate and Social Responsibility.

Policy Elements

We want to be a responsible business that meets the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.

Our company’s social responsibilities are built around four critical areas: Employees and People, Ethics, Engagement and Environment.

  • Employees and People. We take seriously our responsibilities to protect, support, and prepare our employees for successful careers. We lead by example in areas such as workplace safety, health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion and training and development. We believe in opportunity for all and are steadfast in our commitment to equal opportunities, the protection of human rights and the prevention of human trafficking.
  • Ethics. Versapak is committed to doing the right thing, conducting ourselves in a legal, ethical and trustworthy manner and upholding our regulatory obligations.
  • Engagement. Versapak understands it takes all of us working together to make a difference. We seek to engage with suppliers who operate using socially responsible business practices.
  • Environment. We recognise a shared responsibility to protect our planet. Although our facilities and operations have a small ecological footprint, we reduce the environmental impact through preservation, conservation and waste reduction practices.

Code of Conduct and Business Ethics

We'll always conduct business with integrity and respect to human rights.

  • Mechanisms are in place to prevent dishonest or unethical conduct and foster a culture of honesty and accountability. The policy outlines the responsibilities of our employees including our suppliers who are aware of their obligation to conduct themselves in a legal and ethical way.
  • We treat all employees with dignity and respect and follow all applicable laws and legislation related to labour and human rights.

Protecting the Environment

Our company recognizes the need to protect the natural environment. Keeping our environment clean and unpolluted is a benefit to all.

Apart from legal obligations, our company will proactively protect the environment. Examples of relevant activities include:

  • Reuse and Recycling
  • Conserving energy
  • Using environmentally friendly technologies

Ethical Manufacturing

As a manufacturer, we believe it is crucial to deliver the best quality to our customers whilst also looking after our employees and we have regular independent CSR audits. The audit looks at all aspects of the Versapak operation to ensure that our facilities and processes meet acceptable levels of welfare and conditions for all our staff.

We pride ourselves on making quality products in our own production facilities and we insist on the highest levels of staff and environmental welfare. We will continue to invest in staff and resources to keep us at the forefront of ethical manufacturing.

Reusable Products

We make pouches and carriers that can be used at least 2000 times; we are passionate about making quality products that last. We guarantee all our sewn products for at least five years, and we have customers who have been using the same bags for decades. For us, that is just our starting point. We balance our use of robust materials with ensuring we are sourcing from reputable and responsible suppliers.

Recyclable Products

Versapak locking mechanism seals are 100% recyclable and can be recycled in the same way as any other recyclable waste. We operate a “Return and Recycle Scheme” for used plastic security seals. Customers can return their used seals to Versapak free of charge using a collection bag with freepost address. We then regrind them to make new ones.

As well as our Security Seals, we also operate a “Recycle your Versapak” scheme, where we use surplus material and re-purpose it to make school pencil cases for charitable donations. We also take back end of life bags and turn them into groundsheets for the homeless.

Products made from Recycled Material

Our locking mechanism Security Seals are made from recycled plastic. Our state-of-the-art moulding machines melt down reclaimed, recycled material and reprocess it to make our Security Seals.

Energy Efficient Machinery

We invest in our manufacturing equipment to ensure that it is as energy efficient as possible. In 2021 we installed a new Injection Moulding Machine to manufacture our security seals. Not only is it economically sound but it also recycles waste plastic to make new seals.

Modern Slavery

Versapak is committed to the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and integrity. We take our responsibilities as a corporate citizen very seriously and seek to ensure that the behaviours and practices of our suppliers are consistent with our business ethics and respect for fundamental worker’s rights.

Accordingly, Versapak International is committed to ensuring that all vendors and directly employed staff comply with all applicable anti-slavery and human trafficking laws and regulations, including those under the Act.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and will not condone any business practices that engage in any activity, practice or conduct that would constitute an offence under the Act.

We expect the same high standards from all of our suppliers and we expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.

The Planet

Versapak is proud to have been certified by The Planet Mark and the Eden Project since 2019.

This certification highlights our aim to measure, monitor and reduce our carbon footprint, and proves our commitment to environmental sustainability. The Planet Mark recognises outstanding achievements and commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability. It measures a business’s carbon footprint and encourages reduction on an annual basis. Only those companies that can show reduction year-on-year are awarded this accolade.

We are committed to reducing the negative impact we have on the environment, and we continually look for improvements in how we work with our customers and suppliers and how we conduct ourselves as a business.

Royal Seal of Approval

We are extremely proud to hold a Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen. This is the highest royal accolade bestowed upon companies. We were granted this in recognition of the superior quality of products supplied to the Royal Households, and the long-standing relationship between us.

Any British company would be proud to boast a Royal Warrant, but to Versapak, it is more than just a seal of approval. We know that this is something we need to work for, and so we consistently strive to meet quality, environmental and welfare standards. The Royal Warrant is a guarantee of extra scrutiny of our products and our processes.

Members of Made in Britain
