Versapak celebrates 50th Anniversary with staff event in first ever factory

How did it all start?

Husband and wife Ian and Anne Anderson founded Versapak in 1973; initially using sewing machines at home before upgrading to a small office above a restaurant in Kent as demand increased. There was a clear vision in mind: develop a simple, reusable and secure mailing pouch that would be used to move money and documents.

How did we celebrate?

An event was held with dinner and drinks for all UK staff at Italian restaurant Stuzzichini in Bexleyheath, Kent – two doors away from the building which housed the company’s first factory in 1974.  Ian and Anne were presented with a photobook detailing the history of Versapak and the longest serving members of staff were celebrated, including Anita Barilone and Jan Burkin (pictured below).

We also went on a tour of the old factory, which has since turned into a restaurant and nightclub, allowing Ian to reminisce about the early days of manufacturing with a comment that although the venue has changed the original windows are still in place.

What’s next?

We will continue to foster an employee-first environment, attracting happy and loyal staff who, as a result, are ready and willing to go above and beyond their daily call of duty to embody the mission of Versapak. Without our employees – the heartbeat of the company – Versapak would not be where it is today.

As a company, we will continue to offer secure, reusable and cost-effective products for our amazing customer base which includes the NHS, Royal Mail and RBS. Delivering first-class customer service remains the top priority.
